It all comes down to four drivers! Late in the race last week Ty Gibbs flat-out wrecked his teammate Brandon Jones and destroyed our best bets from this article last week. It also cost Jones his chance at a championship. Josh Berry and Noah Gragson had already locked themselves in prior to Martinsville, Ty Gibbs had clinched on points but then went on to win the race, and after the Jones spin, Justin Allgaier snags the final spot.
That makes three Chevrolets from the Dale Earnhardt Jr owned Junior Motorsports, and one Toyota from Joe Gibbs Racing battle it out and decide the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion. Of course, the rest of the field is still in it, battling for a final victory and jockeying for points finishes from 5th on back. The best finishing of the 4 drivers is the champion.
Friday evening was the practice session for Xfinity, with qualifying at 2:30 EST and the race at 6:00 EST, so keep in mind as I write this we don’t have starting positions finalized. Gibbs Toyotas had the speed in Saturday’s practice with Sammy Smith, Brandon Jones, and Ty Gibbs recording the top 3 fastest laps. The other 3 championship drivers Allgaier, Gragson, and Berry respectively were 12th, 13th, and 14th fastest.

NASCAR Xfinity DraftKings DFS Picks
DFS Top Play: Noah Gragson ($11,400)
Noah Gragson will once again determine how my weekend goes for DFS and betting. In the past, that’s gone very well. This has been Noah’s season, and the second half of the season has torn the field apart. I talked about it earlier this week on the NASCAR GAMBLING PODCAST and I am all in on Noah this weekend.
Great Play: Brandon Jones ($9,400)
Brandon Jones has been performing so well lately. He was just laps away from getting into this championship race before his teammate did him dirty. Jones is going to be on a mission this week to prove he should have been in this race and that he could have competed for this title.
Value Play: Nick Sanchez ($7,500)
Sanchez has shown out well in almost every race he’s entered in the Xfinity Series this year. It resulted in a full-time Craftsman Truck Series ride for 2023 just announced on Friday. Coming off a strong 7th place run last week at Martinsville, and 9th fastest in practice, look for Sanchez to finish the season strong.
NASCAR Xfinity Best Bets
Sammy Smith Over AJ Allmendinger (-110)
To me, this one is a no-brainer. Sammy Smith was having a great run at Martinsville, sitting in the top 3 with a chance at the win before Ty Gibbs played bowling cars with the other vehicles his grandfather owns and punted Smith out of the way. Smith was already the fastest in practice, and nobody is more dejected and ready for the season to be over than Allmendinger. The regular season champion fell short of the final 4 and already has his sights on the 2023 season and his return to full-time Cup Series competition.
Austin Hill over Sheldon Creed (-125)
This battle of Richard Childress Racing teammates comes down to who is more reliable. While I love taking Creed as one of my weekly long-shots (+5000 this week is worth another sprinkle), he cannot seem to put together good results week in and week out. Austin Hill has been the polar opposite. After getting into it and laying down the hammer with a post-race punch to Myatt Snider, Hill has some final aggression to get out this week before heading to off-season vacation.

To Win: Noah Gragson (+200 to win the race) (+175 to win the championship)
Gragson was +170 earlier this week to win the race. After not the best showing in practice, his odds dropped a little, and hooray for us! Take note of different options for the result above, both of these are listed on DraftKings Sportsbook. Taking the +175 allows Gragson to not win the race but still be the Champion, that is the route I recommend betting on this.
To Win Long-shot: Sammy Smith (+1500)
There is a really strong chance one of the four championship drivers wins this race en route to winning the championship. However, some juicy long-shots can be found and are worth betting just in case. Sammy smith was fastest in practice and was so close to having his shot last week, maybe he can drive off with the win and Noah Gragson finishes right behind him to cash both of these.
