AJ Allmendinger may be the true king of road! Allmendinger is now Xfinity Series all-time leading in road course wins with NINE. The win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was AJ’s third in the 2022 season already. Allmendinger leads the regular season points standings by just 17 points over Justin Allgaier, and 30 over Ty Gibbs. Just three races remain in the regular season, for Allmendinger Watkins Glen in 2 weeks is one he cannot wait to get to. Then of course the regular season ends with the wild card that is Daytona.

The Xfinity Series now heads to the scenic Irish Hills area of southeastern Michigan to tackle the 2-mile, D-shaped oval. The only close comparison track is Auto Club Speedway in California, which the series raced at back in February. Cup Series regular Cole Custer was victorious that day with Noah Gragson and Trevor Bayne coming up just short. With practice, qualifying, and the race all taking place on Sunday we don’t have the advantage of knowing starting positions as I write this. So keep an eye on those two things as Saturday progresses.

NASCAR Xfinity Best Bets

Brandon Jones Over Sammy Smith (-150)

Smith is set to make his second career Xfinity Series start this weekend. This is some pretty heavy juice to pay for a matchup of teammates but I think it’s well worth it, as I always say on the NASCAR GAMBLING PODCAST “you only pay the juice if you lose.” Smith is a big-time future driver for Toyota and a priority in their Toyota Racing Development program. However, he is young and inexperienced. This is a big, and very fast track and one Jones is very good at. 2nd place in 2021 to AJ Allmendinger and 6th in 2019. Jones is always consistent and a little better at this track type. Look for him to be the more reliable driver on Saturday.

AJ Allmendinger Over Sam Mayer (-125)

Allmendinger, noted king of road, has been on a tear lately, with a win last week at Indianapolis and a 4th place finish the week before at Pocono. Holding on to that small points leads this team wants to keep things firing on all cylinders. Allmendinger has won this head-to-head matchup in four of the last five races. Mayer is a solid young driver but is yet to put that consistency together that the vet Allmendinger has.

To Win: Josh Berry (+500)

There are four pretty clear “favorites” this week with Noah Gragson, Ty Gibbs, Justin Allgaier, and Josh Berry all at 5/1 or shorter odds to win. These four have separated themselves from the others on oval tracks this season. Josh won just a few weeks ago at the Charlotte Motor Speedway and was 4th at Auto Club earlier this season. It’s no secret JR Motorsports is the best team in the garage and Berry should have a real chance this weekend.

To Win Long-Shot: Sheldon Creed (+4500)

I cannot stop betting Creed this year, and soon enough that is going to pay off. So many weeks we’ve seen a string car and something goes wrong and costs him. His car is strong enough to win, we’ve seen his teammate Austin Hill do so multiple times already this year. Creed ran 5th just two weeks ago at Pocono a week after a 5th at New Hampshire. An 8th place finish at Charlotte and 45/1 is just way too long of odds for a guy whose time is coming.

NASCAR Xfinity DraftKings DFS Picks

DFS Top Play: Noah Gragson ($10,700)

It’s hard to argue against a guy like Gragson. He’s had things rolling the past few weeks. After outdueling Ty Gibbs for the victory at Pocono, his 3rd win on the season. Gragson is a guy who loves to lead laps and score fast lap points as well. Look for him to start and stay out front.

Great Play: Brandon Jones ($9,200)

I love Brandon Jones this week and think he deserves a sprinkle to win at (+1500). I covered what he’s done here at the track above in my bet on him. Jones is one of those guys that you can just count on to give you a solid run week in and week out. He’s not always going to give you the big dominator points, although the possibility is there. This is Jones’ style of track, he’s one of my favorite plays of the week.

Value Play: Kyle Sieg ($6,100)

I might just rename this the Sieg pick of the week! These guys do not disappoint most of the time. In a week where we have no cup series regulars running and a lot of bottom barrel guys to choose from. Sieg had a great run 2 weeks ago at Pocono starting 20th and finishing 22nd, scoring 18 points. 40.5 points in the race besides that and another 44.5 and 25 in other races. These guys have solid equipment and are picking and choosing races for a reason. Don’t overthink it and ride with a cheap Sieg again this week.
