Ladies and gentlemen, #TruckNightInAmerica is back, and this time the series heads south to Texas Motor Speedway for the Speedycash.com 200. With eight races in the books, we now have a strong indication of the true contenders and pretenders in the NASCAR Trucks Series.
After a dominating performance last week in Kansas, it was Zane Smith winning his series high third race of this young 2022 season. As the series heads to the Lone Star State, this will be the fourth time the Trucks have raced on a similar track type so we have a lot of data to pull from.
Before we dive into our Best Bets & DFS plays for this weekend’s race, let’s first look back on yet incredible betting card! After going a bit of a different route with our bets last week, we hit on a pair of H2H plays, including the people’s parlay! It was Derek Kraus dominating his matchup against Tyler Ankrum as Derek finished 8th & Ankrum 16th. The second leg of our parlay featured Zane Smith who finished 1st, and Chandler Smith who scored a top-5 by finishing 4th.
With the two H2H victories, and hitting the parlay at Kansas, our Best Bets record moved to a scorching 9-2 record on the year! Now we turn our attention to yet another 1.5-mile track, and I’m confident in a few key positions we can get on prior to practice and qualifying. Please note there is a potential for strong storms in the PM on Friday. If the rain would cancel qualifying, trucks will start based on standings, which may be a key factor depending on how you go about your personal bets this week. Keep this in mind and make sure to check the weather reports at some point on Friday so you can best be set up for success.
After watching some of the replays from last year’s event, it was obvious that when trucks got side-by-side, they had a very difficult time passing due to restricted airflow thus causing trucks to lose control and spin out. With this, practice and qualifying will be extremely important in understanding who is fast and who can maintain quality lap times with the least amount of fall off. In my opinion, a strong chance of seeing a single groove. Specifically, through the turns, this will make it difficult to pass so anyone starting mid-to-back of the field.
John Hunter Nemechek eventually won the race because of trying a higher line, but the vast majority could not get all four tires in the “traction compound” thus resulting in a single grove race. With knowledge of last year’s race, and identifying some key trends in the 2022 season, I’m pumped about the Best Bets below, and think we stay red-hot! It’s Friday Night, under the lights for #TruckNightInAmerica!
NASCAR Trucks Best Bets: Speedycash.com 200
#98 Christian Eckes -120 vs. #42 Carson Hocevar -110 (DraftKings Sportsbook)
For our first Best Bets play this week, I want to look at a H2H matchup that I firmly believe should be listed higher than it actually is. Since 2019, Eckes has had an average running position at Texas of 5.1 compared to Hocevar at 12.0. On top of that, Eckes has run inside the top-15 for 97% of the time in his Truck Series career compared to However who sits at 82% since 2019. Texas is a track that suits Christian’s driving style, and after grabbing his first victory at a similar track type last year, I predict Eckes will have a strong night on Friday. Especially against Hocevar in this key H2H.
#66 Ty Majeski -125 vs. #51 Corey Heim -105 (DraftKings Sportsbook)
For those of you looking for a multi H2H DraftKings write-up, this one’s for you. This season at similar track types, Majeski has finished 10th, 3rd, 4th & 2nd. In four races this season for Corey Heim, he’s finished 23rd or worse three times. Majeski has been getting the most out of his truck and is clicking on all cylinders (pun intended). With that, I have more confidence in his ability and believe he gets us a key victory in the H2H matchup. Take this matchup alone or parlay it with the write-up above for a +230 play!
#38 Zane Smith -129 vs. #18 Chandler Smith -104 (Barstool Sportsbook)
I went back and forth on doing a third H2H, but in the end, felt confident enough in mentioning this H2H that I wanted to share it with you all. On Barstool Sportsbook, I found this Zane -129 vs. Chandler -104 H2H, and I LOVE IT! Believe it or not, I touched on this specific H2H for now a third time this year, and feel dialed in with it. I hate “chasing” a driver after he wins, however, Zane is a different story. With three series wins already, and personally going 2-0 in H2H ‘s with him this year, I once again love him in this matchup as he carries the Speedycash.com green paint scheme this weekend.
DraftKings DFS Driver Picks: Speedycash.com 200
#88 Matt Crafton – ($8.7k)
When it comes to racing at Texas in the Truck Series, one guy that knows how to get it done is Matt Crafton. In his last 10 races at this track, he’s finished five top-5 finishes and nine top-10 finishes. Clearly, he knows how to get it done, and when you’re looking for a driver to maximize their potential in your DFS lineup, Crafton is a must-add!
#4 John Hunter Nemechek – ($10.9k)
When looking at potential dominators for this weekend’s race at Texas, JHN could easily be that guy. Clearly, he’s the top-priced driver for a reason, and rightfully so. He won here in 2021, and has shown plenty of speed the last few weeks as he’s started and ran up front consistently. With the potential of a one-lane race track, I’m putting my faith in one of the fastest trucks that could lead a handful of laps and have clean air for most of the day. I’ll pay the high price and lock in JHN this week!
