Corn Belt 150: NASCAR DFS Truck Series Picks For DraftKings

This.. This is going to be a tough one. The Corn Belt 150 from Knoxville Speedway tonight puts a major twist on the NASCAR DFS world for the Truck Series.

The lineups aren’t set until late this evening (if weather permits), and we’re on dirt for the second time this year. We’ve got dirt ringers, truck regulars, and even Cup and Xfinity guys that will be slinging dirt tonight (or tomorrow; weather doesn’t look promising).

Martin Truex Jr. won the dirt race at Bristol earlier this season with a dominating performance in a one-off with Kyle Busch Motorsports. Truck guys compiled the rest of the Top 10 in that race other than Chase Briscoe who finished 5th; Briscoe is back in the #04 truck this weekend.

If the SRX race is any indication of what we may see in the truck race, expect track position to be key and passing to be at a premium. Drivers are already discussing to media how the bottom groove is virtually the only way around.

One driver told me he expects the racing to be one-lane, single file action throughout.

The starting lineup will be determined by heat races preceding the main event.

Sheesh. There is so much here. I’m not saying it’s too much for me to handle- since I am the Truck God- but in the famous words of Cal Naughton Jr. from Talladega Nights:

“My head’s all tied up.. like a pretzel! I got a pretzel in my head!”

That’s somewhat where I’m at right now. Let’s get right into it.

Be aware to adjust your lineups based on how the heat races go. I will send adjusted plays in the Garage Guys Discord. Link is below.

Ben Rhodes: #99 ThorSport Toyota – $9,300

I really like Rhodes this weekend. It always seems like this team, even when they aren’t the fastest, find themselves at the front more often than not.

I know Rhodes hasn’t won since the 2nd race of the season, but he ran 2nd at the Bristol dirt race and was the stiffest competition to Truex that day. Based on how the racing and the track seems, I’m leaning towards the truck regulars running the show.

I love Rhodes at his salary price being one of the top plays of the weekend.

Zane Smith: #21 GMS Chevrolet – $8,100

Zane looked solid in practice yesterday and finished 7th at Bristol earlier this year. Zane also has five consecutive Top 10 finishes heading into this weekend.

I’m pretty surprised by his price. He has Top 10 pace at the minimum. I think Zane can get a Top 5 finish and even be a dark horse for the win this weekend.

John Hunter Nemechek: #4 KBM Toyota – $9,900

It’s not often you’ll find JHN at this price. His pace in practice yesterday was blistering in 10 lap averages.

I know he junked his truck, but I feel less concerned about that than others might because KBM is preparing lightning fast trucks week in and week out. I think his backup will be equally as competitive to the truck he wrecked in practice.

I think I’ll find myself playing some Chandler Smith and even some Brian Brown because of the KBM dominance. Nonetheless, JHN is the top dog in the fleet, and don’t be surprised if he wins his 6th race of the season this weekend.

Austin Wayne Self: #22 AM Racing Chevrolet – $5,400

This is easily my favorite play right off the bat concerning the low-tier guys. Self ran 10th at Bristol this year, and he has a solid history of results at Eldora.

It’s worth pointing out that I’m not sure how well Eldora success/failures will translate to this track, but almost every single week AWS outperforms his salary. The only way I don’t play AWS is if he qualifies inside the Top 10-12 positions.

AWS has 10 Top 20 finishes this season and 4 Top 15 finishes. When you look at all the drivers around him in that price range, nobody compares except Ryan Truex who scores less points per game and has three finishes outside the Top 30.

AWS’s worst finish this season is 27th.
