Welcome back to the greatest NASCAR bettor in the universe as we head to the inaugural NASCAR weekend at the Circuit of the Americas. The weekend kicks off with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Toyota Tundra 225. The NASCAR DFS slate is gonna be quite different this weekend.
It’s a miracle! We have practice and qualifying for all three series! That’s awesome!
Actually, I dunno about all that. It would be awesome if it wasn’t all crammed into two days. But, I understand the nature of the business.
Same day qualifying is BRUTAL for the DFS crunch. Regarding straight-betting, my concerns are minimal. But DFS will completely be shaped by qualifying results. I at least wanted to wait and see practice times before I published my articles.
Keep up with my Twitter @daletanhardt or the Garage Guys Discord by clicking the link below as I will likely make some lineup additions as soon as qualifying is over.
But let’s just ignore allllll that for a second and remember:
Dale Tanhardt is here to bring the energy. I’m here to win money and pummel some beers in honor of the inaugural NASCAR weekend at COTA. COTA! We’re gonna have a hell of a weekend.
I’m here to bring…
NASCAR DFS Premium Content For DraftKings, FanDuel and Betting
NASCAR DFS Truck Picks For DraftKings
Sheldon Creed: #2 GMS Racing Chevrolet – $10,300
Who is your favorite “Creed”?
Creed from The Office, the Assassin’s Creed video game franchise, or the rock band ‘Creed’?
None of the above. I’m going’ with motherfuckin’ Sheldon Creed. To be fair, none of the other fore mentioned Creeds have won me any money. Young Sheldon here has handed me fat stacks over the past year.
Creed is a road-course ace. He finished 2nd at the Daytona Road Course this year and won the event last year. Based on his diverse racing background and his phenomenal results, there’s no doubt Creed is a top play come Saturday afternoon.
Kaz Grala: #02 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet – $9,500
I love me some Kaz on the road courses. This guy is immensely talented on the left and rights as he’s proven time and time again. Along with many others, I sincerely believe he deserves a full-time ride in a NASCAR series.
Grala finished 8th at the Daytona road course earlier this year and has accumulated strong road course runs amongst all three series thus far in his young career. He was 6th fastest in practice on Friday, and I expect him to be a solid threat to contend for the win on Saturday.
Camden Murphy: #11 Spencer Davis Motorsports Toyota – $4,900
If there’s a cheap guy I’ve got my eyes on for this race pre-qualifying, it’s Camden Murphy. Now, most don’t know much about this guy, but I do know that he’s delivered a couple of times when given an opportunity.
In his last two starts in the truck series, his average starting position is 36.5 and his average finish is 16.0. Murphy was a prolific scorer for his salary price in each of those races.
Murphy finished 13th at the Daytona Road Course earlier this year driving for Joe Nemechek, and he was an impressive 13th fastest in the lone practice session on Friday.
I love this guy considering how cheap of an option he is. Keep an eye on qualifying to see what extra value he can offer based on his starting position.
Todd Gilliland: #38 Front Row Motorsports Ford – $8,400
Gilliland is a stout road course racer. I know his statistics don’t necessarily reflect it, but he has been stricken with unfortunate luck over the course of his career.
He finished fourth at the Daytona road course earlier this season, and has had strong runs that have been depleted by crashes and mechanical failures. His team has excellent speed in 2021, and he’s knocking on the door of a win.
I don’t know if the win comes this weekend, but I believe he will run very strong and be around at the end for a Top 5 finish.
