I miss bags like the desert miss the rain (great old techno song, highly recommend you listen to it). On the latest NASCAR DFS Preview Show, we talked over my first four DFS picks for the Instacart 500 at Phoenix Raceway. These drivers are the chosen ones with a GUT BOI ENERGY seal of approval.
NASCAR DFS Gut Bois – Instacart 500
#5 Kyle Larson (DK- $9.6K | FD – $11.3K)
His name is Kyle Larson and we can’t ignore the force of nature he’s going to be now that he’s on Team Hendrick. We watched Kyle dominate Las Vegas this past Sunday unexpectedly, and even Brad Keselowski’s experience and fast-ass Penske car couldn’t outrun him.
Larson has a 4.7 average finish at this track, and unless he gets wrecked out, he could easily slide up top to dominate Stage 1 and beyond. I like him paired with Chase Elliott this week because Hendrick has the horses.
#23 Bubba Wallace (DK – $7.2K | FD – $6.5K)
Wallace has not shown us anything out of the ordinary so far this season, and many are already calling him a fake. I’m not here to play games and write about Bubba just because I want him to do well because the Fam doing well is my first priority, but he is most certainly worth a play this week after having a shitty run in Vegas due to a power steering malfunction.
Denny is not going to let minor shit like that keep his team down, so I expect the 23XI garage to be on their game this week. Last season, Bubba improved at this track and is the highest-ranked closer in RPM equipment with a 3.5 positive place differentia average. He starts P25 on Sunday.
#21 Matt DiBenedetto (DK – $8.5K | FD – $7.7K)
DEBBIE. Have faith in Dibbie. He’s our Dibbie Dettoh. He trying. He gonna make it.
Lol… Matt has had shitty luck and after taking a look at the stat sheet I feel more confident in taking a shot on him than Aric Almirola. I’m still gonna be playing some Almirola solely based on Place differential, but that play is kind of a no-brainer based on Aric starting P32. I think we see DiBenedetto turn it around this week in Phoenix tho and he’s my pivot from Almirola.
#17 Chris Buescher (DK – $6.4K | FD – $4.5K)
THE MIGHTY BUESCH is going to save your fucking life this week and let me tell you why. The dude is starting P17. His car is the number 17. Everyone wants to be number 1, and 7 is a lucky number. If my math is correct, Buescher equals BAGS.
Looking at his stats in Phoenix, Chris has an average finish of 17.3 and I think we see that number get a little lower after this week with the Rousch Fenway team looking decent this year. He also has the third most green flag passes at this track so he’s good about finishing a race in the desert. Pairing Buescher with the big boys can make some sexy lineups and if he holds on, he could be the punt that everyone else forgot to plugin.
