Super Start Batteries 188: NASCAR DFS Xfinity Series Picks for DraftKings

Welcome to the show; the name is Dale Tanhardt. The undisputed greatest NASCAR bettor in the history of the universe takes the show on the road to deliver the best NASCAR DFS Truck Series and Xfinity Series picks for DraftKings. This continues with the Super Start Batteries 188 at the Daytona Road Course. Thanks to Garage Guy Chase and Chef BoiRDeen, this beautiful mullet has been rewarded with the ability to provide YOU with more premium money-making possibilities in 2021.

Their success is unquestionable as year after year they dominate the NASCAR DFS world in the NASCAR Cup Series. It will be remarkably challenging to have to compete with their picks. Good thing I don’t have to.

As Chef and Chase continue to do their thing providing constant DFS cash flow opportunities for the Cup Series, I will be providing all the content you need for the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) continuing this Saturday. I will also provide you with Xfinity straight bets as well.

The NXS is special because it arguably has the purest aero package amongst all three premier series. Drivers have the most control over their racecars as the package boasts low-downforce, high-horsepower, and an experimental flange-fit composite body that has resulted in very impressive racing since its debut. Honestly, you may not give a single damn about all of that or have any remote clue what I’m even talking about.

But, whether you realize it or not, these components primarily differentiate the NXS from the other two NASCAR series, so you better listen. They critically impact how you should bet and approach DFS compared to Cup and Trucks. We’ll dive into more of that as the season progresses, but this Saturday will kick off the NXS season at Daytona International Speedway, and here is who I like heading into the weekend.

NASCAR Xfinity DFS Picks For DraftKings

Noah Gragson: #9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet – $10,300

We open the season riding with Noah Gragson for the first two races of the season. Every one of my picks from last week scored very well except Gragson after he was swept up in a crash. Gragson has a very underrated streak going for him heading into Saturday’s race.

In seven starts on road courses throughout his Xfinity Series career, he has 7 Top 10’s and 3 Top 3’s in his last four. Noah is a very talented road racer, and he will have a very strong car to back him up. He rolls off from the 29th position, so place-differential will be huge if he runs well.

Cody Ware: #17 Rick Ware Racing Ford – $6,200

The price tags for this week are extremely top-heavy, so finding the lower-tier guys that will make your lineup are extremely crucial this week. The guy that sticks out is Cody Ware. Ware has so much time behind the wheel in a variety of different series, and he finished 7th in his lone start at the Charlotte Roval last season in this car.

His 38th starting position offers tremendous upside due to his low floor and high ceiling. If Ware scores a Top 25, he will be a successful pick in your lineups. Watch for Ware to stay out of trouble and work his way through the field as others drop out.

Stephen Leicht: #61 Hattori Racing Toyota – $5,600

Leicht is a veteran of the Xfinity Series, and is behind the wheel of a car that has respectable speed. The #61 had several solid runs last season. This includes a 5th place finish at Kansas last fall with Austin Hill at the helm. Look, I’m not saying Leicht will run in the top five, but I am saying that in the three road course races Leicht drove the #61, his finishes were: 21st, 22nd, and 21st.

He rolls off from the 34th position. I know; the name isn’t sexy by any means, but if he gets a Top 25, he could boost your lineups over the top. I think he could finish in the Top 20 on Saturday.

Brandon Jones: #19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota – $9,000

I cannot help but to insert Jones into my lineups this weekend. He starts 39th and is a high-caliber driver in a high-caliber car. He finished 2nd at this track last season, and he’s becoming a veteran of the series. This will be his sixth full-time season in the Xfinity Series. That’s pretty hard to believe considering his young age of 24 years old. Year by year he steadily improves at all tracks, and two straight Top 10 finishes at road courses inspire confidence in Jones come Saturday.

Austin Cindric: #22 Team Penske Ford – $10,700

Austin Cindric surprised me with his first-ever superspeedway win at Daytona last week. No surprises this Saturday if he dominates at the Daytona Road Course. Cindric is the road course master. His road course resume dating back to Mid-Ohio in 2018 is as follows:

2nd, 3rd, 1st, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 1st, 1st, and 6th.

Cindric must be inserted in many of your lineups, but in the case that he does not dominate and win this race, leave him out of a few lineups because of the unpredictable factor that can flip races in a matter of seconds. I imagine Cindric will be hammered in the majority of lineups, so try something different in a few of your own.

AJ Allmendinger: #16 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet – $10,900

Allmendinger’s road course resume is up there with the all-time greats. He is an immediate threat to win at every road course race NASCAR travels to. He won the last road course race at the Charlotte Roval last fall and will contend for the win on Saturday.

Keep the same mindset with AJ as you would with Cindric. If something crazy happens that flips this race, create some lineups that do not have AJ or Cindric as they will both be hammered throughout the majority of lineups.

Justin Haley: #11 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet – $10,000

The statistics do not back up putting Haley in your lineups this weekend. Using the eye-test, Haley is a solid road-course racer. He had great success in the Truck Series but has been snake-bitten in the Xfinity Series. He is due for a strong run if he stays out of trouble. Haley starts 29th, and I expect him to run in the Top 10, if not the Top 5.

Don’t forget; Haley is teammates with AJ Allmendinger. I expect that comradery to benefit Haley going forward at these road course races, and I predict strong runs from Haley at these tracks all season. I believe it will start this weekend.
